Developing a Growth Mindset

“This growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments, everyone can change and grow through application and experience.” ~Carol Dweck

People typically fall into two categories, those with a fixed mindset and those with a growth mindset. People with fixed mindsets believe that their intelligence and talents are static. They are the ones that would turn down a managerial position because they feel they are not qualified to do it or would be reluctant to send in their resume because they don’t have the qualifications. Those with a growth mindset, on the other hand, would send in their resume regardless of whether they are qualified or not.

Having a growth mindset means that you understand that you can thrive on challenges and you see failure as a springboard to developing your abilities. It means that you can grow your talents and intelligence.
